Home Depot to offer CFL recycling

Home Depot is going to offer recycling for Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs in all of their stores.

Many people and companies have been pushing CFL's because they use less energy and last longer than traditional light bulbs but they contain a small amount of Mercury. This isn't a problem until you have to dispose of one, though, as it was pretty hard to find a place that recycled them...

Hopefully this announcement will lead to other places that sell CFL bulbs to start recycling programs of their own.

We've switched over to CFL's in almost all of the lamps in our apartment and I have nothing but good things to say about them these days. Years ago when they first came out I wasn't a big fan of the color of the light and the fact that they didn't seem as bright or as sharp as the regular bulbs they replaced but the newer ones we have are awesome.
