White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives?

Why have I never heard about the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives before?

This all started because I was reading an article on Microsoft in Business Week online. Toward the end of the article they had a comment from the Reverend Ken Hutcherson who apparently said "I am one of the worst nightmares that this company has had." at a recent Microsoft shareholder meeting.

So, thinking this comment was funny and that this Ken Hutcherson guy was a nut-job I googled him and came across the Wikipedia page on him and was skimming through that when I came across a reference to the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.

Why have I never heard of this?

What the fuck does the White House have to do with Faith-Based anything?
