I found a interesting article yesterday on CNN about where your money goes when you're pumping gasoline into your car at $3.00+ per gallon. (Around here it's staying right around $3.25/gallon.)
I wasn't really shocked to see that about 13% of the money goes towards taxes or that less than 4% goes to the gas station owners. (My father's friend owns a gas station and I've heard him say that they don't really make much on the gasoline.) I found it interesting that about 8% went just to transportation costs.
I think the part I found least surprising was that most of the money went to record profits for companies like Exxon Mobil.
Too bad we really can't just stop buying gasoline...
